Box truck dispatch for owner operators.
Straight trucks are their own market. The freight is different, the customers are different, and the mistakes that cost you money are different too.
We book freight for box truck operators running their own authority. 8% of linehaul, nothing taken from your fuel surcharge or your accessorials, and no contract to get out of.
What we book for box trucks
Palletised retail freight, appliances, furniture, building supplies, and a lot of regional LTL that never fills a 53 foot trailer. Most of it runs inside a few hundred miles, which means you are home more nights than a van driver and you turn more loads per week. The trade is that you are competing with a much larger pool of trucks, because a box truck is the cheapest way into this business.
The lift gate question
A lift gate changes what you can accept. Plenty of receivers have no dock, and plenty of brokers post loads that assume you can put freight on the ground. If you have a gate, say so on every setup, because it is worth real money on the right load. If you do not, we filter those out before they waste your day.
Where box truck operators lose money
Two places. The first is accepting a per load price without checking the miles, because box truck freight is often quoted as a flat number rather than per mile, and a flat number hides a bad rate. The second is driver assist. If somebody hands you a pallet jack, that is warehouse labour and it belongs on the invoice, not in your linehaul.
Authority and weight
Most 26 foot box trucks are built to sit under 26,001 lbs gross, which keeps you non CDL. That is a real advantage for hiring and a real limit on payload, and it is worth knowing your exact number rather than the number on the brochure. If you run intrastate only, tell us, because it changes which freight we can even look at.
